The Career and Professional Development Services (CPDS) of the North South University organized a “Career Boot Camp” for the NSU students with support from Grameenphone, a press release said Tuesday.

The day-long workshop had sessions on smart CV writing techniques, interview tips and tricks and interview simulation. HR professionals & different functional leaders from Grameenphone conducted the sessions.

A total of 200 students from different departments of NSU participated in the workshop and got on-campus recruitment opportunities.

In the opening ceremony, Benajir Ahmed, Chairman & Founder Life Member, NSU Trust was the Chief Guest, while Quazi Mohammad Shahed, Chief Human Resources Officer, Grameenphone, was present as the Special Guest. The program was chaired by Prof. Amin U. Sarkar, Vice Chancellor & CEO, NSU.

Speakers at the workshop focused on corporate networking, mutual collaboration and different aspects of career building besides interactive discussions.

HR Professionals & NSU alumni from Grameenphone appreciated the initiative for imparting knowledge to the potential corporate executives from NSU.

Grameenphone last year introduced a management trainee program titled ‘Next Business Leader’ and under the program 18 fresh graduates were employed. As part of Telenor Group, employees of Grameenphone also have scope to work for other business units of Telenor. Currently 23 such employees are working in Asia and Europe.


The Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) of the North South University (NSU) in association with Airtel Bangladesh Ltd. organized a series of day-long workshops at its campus on 31 January, 2015.

The objective was to help the students better understand about how to choose the most suitable employment options for building a successful future career for themselves and how to prepare for it, a press release said Saturday.

The day-long workshop had sessions on Smart CV writing techniques, Interview Tips and Tricks, Interview Simulation, CV Feedback and Interview Feedback.

A total of 20 NSU Alumni HR Professionals from GrameenPhone, Nestlé, KRISENERGY, BRAC EPL, Banglalink, Robi Axiata Limited, MGH, Marico, PRAN and Accenture conducted the sessions. One hundred students from all departments of NSU participated in the workshops.

Benajir Ahmed, Chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU Trust, attended the opening ceremony as the Chief Guest. Prof. Amin Sarkar, Vice Chancellor, NSU, chaired the ceremony.

Noor Mohammad, CHO, Airtel Bangladesh attended the programme as special guest. Prof. Emdadul Haq, Executive Director, Students Affairs and Faisal Wali, Director, CPDS, NSU delivered speeches.

The Chairman in his speech said, “North South University always emphasizes on linking up between academy and industry which helps fresh graduates to become the leader of real world. These sorts of events are true example of that.”

Career Counseling Center of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) organized a seminar on “Employability Skills Awareness” for enriching students’ necessary knowledge and skills at ASAUB campus on 22 December 2014.

Vice Chancellor of ASAUB, Professor Dr. Dalem Chandra Barman, was present at the program as Chief Guest.

S. Tarek Kamal, MD of Infiniti HR Company Ltd., Group Captain (Retd.) Gaffar Kabir, CEO, Infinity HR Company Ltd. and Mr. Md. Nazmul Hoque, PPM, former Additional IGP of Bangladesh Police were present as the resource persons.

Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Adviser of ASAUB, Prof. Dr. Abu Daud Hasan, Dean, Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. A.B. Siddique, Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business also spoke at the seminar.

Registrar of the University Md. Khalequzzaman delivered the welcome speech at the seminar. Bhokto Kumar Biswas, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Business Administration, ASAUB conducted the program.

Speakers in their speeches emphasized on necessary preparations for getting the desired jobs.

They also focused on how to prepare curriculum vitae, face interview and other measures, which are helpful for the job seekers. They also emphasized on knowledge and confidence building for the job seekers.

Chairmen from various departments, Additional Registrar of ASA University Bangladesh Md. Ashraful Haq Chowdhury, faculty members from various departments, students and officials of ASAUB were also present.


The Eastern University organized a day-long Career Fair on 9 December 2014 to bring employers, experienced professionals and entry level talented individuals together under one roof, a press release said Wednesday.

The day-long event focused on the theme ‘Not just a job, find your career.’ The interactive Fair was open for all graduates and job seekers and EU campus was in a festive mood all day long.

The event included nine career related workshops where different corporate leaders shared their valuable experiences and opinions on career issues. A total of 30 reputed companies participated in the Fair.

Selim R F Hussain, CEO and Managing Director of IDLC Finance Limited, inaugurated the Fair at 10.00 am as the Chief Guest.

In his speech, the Chief Guest praised EU authorities for organizing such an event regularly.

He advised the young job seekers to acquire different inter-personal skills along with professional degrees so that they can sell themselves well in the job market.

Mohammad Enayet Ullah, Chairman, Board of Trustees of EU, attended the event as the Guest of Honor, while Md. Musharrof Hossain, President, BSHRM & Asia Pacific Federation of Human Resources Management, was present as the Special Guest.

Mohammad Enayet Ullah said the fair was a platform for direct interaction between potential job seekers and employers.

Prof. Dr. Abdur Rab, Vice Chancellor of EU, shared his future plan to add more practical and job oriented courses in the present curriculum of the university. He thanked all participating organizations, sponsors, partner organizations, media and organizing team for their sincere cooperation in organizing the fair.

In the welcome speech, Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury  said the fair will benefit both employers and potential employees.

Deans, advisers, chairpersons, faculty members, officials, students, and guests attended the inaugural ceremony.
